Remote configuration reduces the expense of data center visits. The newest nShield Connect XC models include an optional serial port, enabling businesses to avoid costly return trips to the data center. Remote configuration features include:

Setting up and modifying an HSM’s network settings, such as the IP address.

Facilitating provider/tenant deployment models where the provider can configure the nShield HSM appliance before handing over control to a tenant. This role separation ensures the cryptographic key material remains secure from the provider.

Clearing key material and decommissioning the nShield HSM appliance at the end of its usage cycle, making it ready for the next deployment.

Technicians only need to install and connect the nShield HSM appliance and attach a serial concentrator in the data center to enable complete remote configuration and management. This reduces the need for skilled personnel on-site and gives customers greater efficiency and control over their HSMs.
